Grosslobming GP R4: Anna Muzychuk scores a hat-trick, emerges sole leader

GM Anna Muzychuk (UKR) defeated GM Alexandra Kosteniuk (SUI) to score a hat-trick at FIDE Grosslobming GP in Austria. Anna has emerged sole leader 3.5/4. GM R Vaishali drew with GM Mariya Muzychuk (UKR) to maintain her pursuit. She is now at a half point behind the leader 3/4. GM Nana Dzagnidze (GEO) scored her first win of the event, handing GM Zhongyi Tan (CHN) her second consecutive loss of the event. IM Olga Badelka (AUT) and GM Jiner Zhu (CHN) scored the remaining two victories of the round against IM Nurgyul Salimova (BUL) and IM Lela Javakhishvili (GEO). Vaishali in pursuit

For the second consecutive round, four games ended decisively - both white and black pieces picking up two wins a piece.

GM Anna Muzychuk (UKR, 2526) won the last Classical rated game against GM Alexandra Kosteniuk (SUI, 2479) last year at Cairns Cup. This time the colors were reversed, yet the outcome remained the same. Anna got a pleasant position out of the French Defense.

GP Standings

GM Aleksandra Goryachkina is still at the top spot 308.34. She is guaranteed a spot at the next Candidates as only GM Jiner Zhu (CHN) can surpass her. She is at 235 points. After winning Pune GP, GM Koneru Humpy moved up to the second spot with 279.17 points. She needs to hope that Jiner does not surpass her in GP points at the Grosslobming GP.
