13-year-old Yashita Rout held GM Mitrabha Guha to a draw in Round 4 of 19th Delhi International GM Open 2022. She survived all of her opponent's attempts for 100 moves. They are - GM Arjun Erigaisi, GM Azer Mirzoev (AZE), GM Lalith Rohit, GM Iniyan P, FM Seyed Kian Poormosavi, IM Shahil Dey and GM Visakh N R. GM Cristhian Camilo Rios' (COL) woes continue as he suffered his second loss of the event, this time it was against 14-year-old Hriday Panchal. He is unbeaten so far 2.5/4. 16-year-old Devam Makwana held IM D K Sharma to a draw.
Yashita - Mitrabha: 0.5-0.5
Yashita Rout (1392) started well against GM Mitrabha Guha (2510). She struck in the center at the first opportunity she got.
White might be rated 1392, however the move 19.d5 speaks volumes that her actual strength is much above what her rating may suggest. In case you are wondering, the d5-pawn is tactically defended. So even after the exchange of queens, Black cannot take it because it will cause him to lose a piece. The game reached to a double bishop vs bishop and knight endgame after 27 moves. The minor piece lasted for another 50 moves before liquidating into a same color bishop endgame which went for 23 moves until the game was drawn.
